ABOUT US
Our History & Mission
How We Started
Our Amazing Fighters was founded by LeAnna Headley in 2014, beginning as an Instagram page dedicated to sharing the stories of children battling pediatric cancer and advocating for better research & funding. Over the last nine years, we have grown into a 501(C)3 nonprofit with a dedication to raising awareness, providing support, and spreading joy to both children and their families during their fight against pediatric cancer. While our nonprofit has transformed, our heart & passions for this cause has remained the same.
What We Do
Our organization works diligently to provide support to as many children & families as we can, providing financial assistance, care packages, personalized blankets, bald American Girl Dolls, holiday support, hosting events & Overnight Experiences, and more. Additionally, we are committed to helping local families by providing assistance through our Virginia Support programming via events, coffee for parents, hospital visits, babysitting, purchasing meals for inpatient families, helping with unexpected needs & providing respite care.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our Amazing Fighters is committed to raising awareness, providing support, and spreading joy to kids and their families in the fight against pediatric cancer.
A Note From Our Founder,
LeAnna
In 2014, I started Our Amazing Fighters as a simple Instagram page with the intent to just raise awareness for pediatric cancer. In the following 8 years since the beginning of our page, Our Amazing Fighters has grown into what we know it as today. Our team has lobbied on Capital Hill more than 150 times, have sent countless care packages, provided numerous means of support for families local to Central Virginia through the means of respite care, and more
Through Our Amazing Fighters, I have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of pediatric cancer families from across the United States. Sadly, far too many of these kids and beloved friends of mine are no longer with us and I have vowed to finish their fight. I will carry their battles on and they will be remembered and honored through the work that we do.
When I began Our Amazing Fighters, I had no idea the reach and impact this nonprofit would one day have. I am so beyond thankful for the unique opportunity to have experienced my calling so early in life and I am immensely grateful for the support that has been shown to us by my family, friends, community, and even strangers. Without you all, we would not be able to continue the work that we do. So thank you.
& a reminder to everyone... let all that you do be done in love.
VISION STATEMENT
We believe every family fighting pediatric cancer should have a community fighting alongside them.
